‘Narture is an artist collective, baking real bread to earn the dough to fund arts projects’. Specialising in sourdough products baked for taste and health of the gut, Narture is based in the centre of Ayr. Open Wed-Sat, 9 am-2 pm. It is part of their campaign to address the problem of the catastrophic impact empty shops have on social well-being, loss of services, jobs and the economy.

Unity Grill is a social restaurant in the heart of Ayr where 100% of profits are used to challenge food poverty. Described as an ‘absolute gem!’, Unity Grill offers an array of heartwarming meals and bakes. ‘Eat Well. Do Good’ is their ethos and you can do just that here!

A vegetarian and plant-based bakery and coffee house based in Ayr Central. Barefaced Food dishes are extremely insta-worthy (although you may eat it before you have time to take a picture!). Their passion for good, healthy and tasty food is evident and their efforts have won them various awards.

The Fox & Willow

One of Scotland’s finest gastropubs, The Fox & Willow is situated in the suburbs of Ayr. It’s renowned for its relaxed atmosphere as well as mouthwatering menus. You can also find quirky domes in the garden for alfresco but rain-free dining. It’s the perfect venue for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or drinks; you are sure to be blown away by what it has to offer!

The Chestnuts

A family-run welcoming Hotel, Bar, Beer Garden and Restaurant open 7 days a week. Conveniently located on Racecourse Road, Ayr. They have a fantastic range of dishes with lovely staff and consistently delicious food. A recent special was Half Dunure Lobster and King Prawn Skewer grilled with Garlic Butter served with Fries, Salad Garnish and Proscuitto crisp…How amazing does that sound?

Wild Dough

Wild Dough is a craft bakery and artisan food store in the heart of Ayr. You will find a wonderful selection of homemade bread, cakes, pastries and much more here! In addition, they sell a variety of local produce including cheese, eggs and more. Food bloggers, Kevin & Kieran D’Arcy (@foodthirst_) created a brilliant video of what’s on offer at Wild Dough, you can watch it here

Wallace Tower Fruit & Vegetable Stall

This fruit and vegetable stall, taking pride of place at the Wallace Tower on Ayr’s high street, has been running since the 90s. They offer a fantastic variety of fruit and vegetables, including local produce. They also do deliveries, running from Monday-Sunday in and around Ayrshire!

Ayrshire Farmers Market 

This Farmers Market was originally set up in 2000 and is held in Ayr, Kilmarnock & Paisley. There are always a varied number of stallholders including meat vendors, cakes, vegetable products and much more!
